The Downtown Community Television Center’s PRO-TV Program is currently seeking undergraduate and graduate film and/or media majors to participate as media instructors for the Summer Media Intensive (SMI).  The SMI is a 6-week program, hosted in cooperation with the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) that offers high school-aged students the opportunity to create short documentary, narrative, animation, or experimental videos with a sociopolitical focus.  Students work in groups of 6-8 with an instructor to conceptualize, shoot, and edit a piece that is screened publicly at the end of the program.  This is a fantastic opportunity to gain teaching skills while enhancing your own personal production experience in an alternative educational setting.  The program is tentatively scheduled to meet 5 days a week, 11AM – 4PM. with an hour lunch.  The program is scheduled to begin Tuesday, July 6th and end on Monday, August 16th with a tentative screening date of Thursday, August 19th.

College credit and a small stipend are available for compensation.  Students interested in applying to the position must submit a resume, brief cover letter, and reel (online or dvd) to  For further questions, please contact Chinisha Scott, PRO-TV Program Coordinator at (212) 966-4510 x.642 or by e-mail at
